MS Walk

On Saturday, May 5th, take part in Collingwood’s annual Multiple Sclerosis Walk.  Register today and help raise money for people living with MS in your community.  Your donations and participation will help fund innovate programs and services in the Collingwood community and support groundbreaking research to help find the cause and cure for Multiple Sclerosis.

Check-in for the walk is at 8:30am, and the walk will begin at 10:00am at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 63 (490 Ontario Street, Collingwood).

Every year over 65,000 participants in more than 160 communities across Canada participate in the MS Walk.

Hornets Update

On Friday, March 15, the Alliston Hornets defeated the Midland Flyers 6-3 to win the Jr. C Mid-Ontario Junior Hockey League Championships!  This is the sixth year in a row that the Hornets have won the championship trophy.

On March 20th, the Hornets met the Walkerton Hawks in the best of seven quarterfinal Schmalz Cup series, losing 4-3 in overtime.  Game two was another close action game, Alliston won 5-3 and game three, Walkerton won 4-2.

The Walkerton Hawks currently lead the series 2-1.  Game four is tonight (Wednesday, March 27th) in Alliston, and the Hornets are looking to tie up the series 2-2.

March Break at Blue Mountain

Blue Mountain will be holding free March Break activities all week long (March 9-17th).

Elementary and high school students can purchase lift tickets Monday to Friday for $39 + HST during March Break.

These Kids Wear Crowns will be performing an outdoor concert on Friday, March 15th at 4pm on the Village Stage with special guests Courage My Love.

Midland Flyers Vs. Alliston Hornets

For the sixth year running the Jr. C Alliston Hornets are in the Georgian Bay Mid Ontario Junior Hockey League finals against the Midland Flyers.  The winner of the series moves onto the provincial finals; the Alliston Hornets currently lead the series 2-1.  The Hornets won 6-0 and 7-0 in the first two games, and lost 5-4 in overtime in the third game.

Game four takes place Tuesday, March 12 (7:30pm) in Midland, game five is on Friday, March 15 (7:30pm) in Alliston, game six is on Sunday, March 17 (2:30pm) in Midland and game seven if needed is on Monday, March 18 (7:30pm) in Alliston.

On Wednesday night, the Alliston Hornets beat the Penetang Kings 6-4 in an exciting game! The hornets are only one win away from the league finals.  The Hornets are currently leading the series 3-1.

Play-Off Hockey- Semi Finals

The Alliston Hornets defeated the Hunstville Otters in the second round of playoffs last Wednesday night.  The Hornets started round three of playoffs against the Penetang Kings in the semi finals on Wednesday night with a 4-0 victory.

Game two in the best-of-seven series is on Friday in Penetanguishene at 8pm and game three back in Alliston on February 24th at 8pm.  Game four is set back in Penetanguishene on Wednesday, Feb 27 at 8pm.

Family Day Weekend at Blue Mountain

Beat those February blahs … Plan to spend the annual Family Day Holiday Weekend (February 16 to 18, 2013) at Blue Mountain Village in Collingwood. There are plenty of great free events and activities for the whole family to enjoy. Each day there will be skating on the Mill Pond, the exciting Firedance Show takes place Saturday at 8 pm and don’t miss the spectacular Fireworks display on Sunday at 8 pm.

It’s Playoff Season Again

The Junior C, Alliston Hornets finished in first place in the regular season and the team got a bye in the first round of playoffs.  On February 6th, The Hornets met the Hunsville Otters for the first game in the second round of playoffs.  The Hornets defeated the Otters 9-1 in Alliston.

Game two in the best-of-seven series is on Saturday in Hunstville and game three back in Alliston on February 10th at 7pm.  Game four is set back in Hunstville on Wednesday, Feb 3 at 8pm.
